Flat Pack Exhibition Design by GT School of Industrial Design and the Wearable Computing Center
As our exhibition (Meeting the Challenge: The Path Towards an Consumer Wearable Computer) starts its cross country journey to the Computer History Museum (where it will be set up as “On You, A Story of Wearable Computing” July-September) I am again amazed at how it fits snugly inside just three crates. The exhibition is over forty pedestals and packs so tightly because of the design and hard work of Yoni Kaplan and Kevin Shankwiler. Yoni turned the production of the exhibition into his Masters Project in Industrial Design. All the pedestals and acrylic cases bend and pack flat. Yoni also tested the CAD milled cuts for strength and bend-ability to insure that the pedestals will hold up in travel.
